None of this would have happened if the car was blue. It was the summer of 2024 and I found myself commuting to work in an unexciting, red 3rd-gen Subaru Forester. It really was a fine car, but it certainly was not the most thrilling thing to drive for two hours a day. One night, after getting home from work, I decided to give the film Baby Driver a rewatch. It's a great movie, car enthusiast or not. The film opens with a bank robbery and car chase both beautifully choreographed with the track Bellbottoms. At the center of it all is a 2006 Subaru WRX STI. A red one. This Subaru was red. My Subaru Forester was also red. After this realization that I essentially had a hero car lookalike, I put my plan into action. I watched the first three minutes of Baby Driver religiously and made a shot list. I then recruited my cousin and two friends as bank robbers of my own house. Lastly, I put on an old pair of wired earphones and my favorite Oakleys. After three days of filming and awkward looks from the neighbors, my spoof was ready. So here it is, ladies and gentlemen.
